A Safe and Stimulating Environment
At Park Hill Nursery, we provide a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow. Our facilities are designed to support their development and encourage exploration.
Key Features:
- Secure Premises: Located within Sunningmead Community Centre, our nursery has secure access with key fob entry for staff only.
- Dedicated Spaces: We offer a variety of dedicated spaces for different age groups and activities, including:
* Hedgehog Room: which is targeted at ages 0 – 2.5 years
* Rabbits/Squirrel Room: Which is designed for ages 2.5 to 4 years.- Outdoor Play: Our outdoor areas are used daily, with the doors open and staff encouraging free play. We provide suitable clothing so that children can access these areas whatever the weather.
- Community Access: We have access to the Sunningmead Community Centre grounds, including a grassed area and playground.
- Local Amenities: We are conveniently located near the canal, several local parks, and the old railway line, offering opportunities for nature walks and outdoor adventures.
Special Educational Needs
Our Nursery employs a level 3 early special educational needs coordinator.
Children with SEN are identified and supported by an individual learning plan.
The Nursery works in partnership with parents and outside agencies to support and educate children.
All staff work closely with children to meet their needs.
The Areas
Hedgehog Room
The Hedgehog Room caters to children aged birth to 2 1/2 years. This dedicated space within our nursery provides a safe and stimulating environment with defined areas for play, including a cosy book nook, a role-play area, and a space for heuristic play.
Children engage in a variety of activities throughout the day, including sensory play, story time, and social interaction with older children during mealtimes. We prioritise safety and hygiene with a dedicated nappy changing area and a focus on handwashing.
Our outdoor space includes a secure courtyard with a sandpit and climbing equipment, and we often take advantage of our proximity to the canal for nature walks and feeding the ducks.
Rabbit and Squirrel rooms
The Rabbit and Squirrel rooms are spacious and designed for children aged 2-4 years. These areas feature distinct zones for a variety of activities, including messy play, art and crafts, a quiet reading corner, role-play, and a mark making area.
Children have open access to our secure courtyard garden, where they can enjoy sand and water play, climbing, and outdoor exploration.
The rooms are equipped with child-sized toilets and a nappy changing area, encouraging children to develop independence in self-care.
Outdoor Learning
Our outdoor areas are used daily, with the doors open and staff encouraging free play. We provide suitable clothing so that children can access these areas whatever the weather.
Children are offered plenty of physical challenges, such as climbing blocks, a train, a ramp, ride-on toys, and seesaws.
They have opportunities to explore nature, minibeasts, and natural objects. Our own grassed, covered area and playground-our sole use not Sunningmead.
Our adventures
Nature walks
We often take advantage of our proximity to the canal for nature walks and feeding the ducks. We love to take advantage of the outdoors by exploring the natural environment and exploring our local community.
Bear Town
We venture out in our nursery car to bear town. Which is on the outskirts of Cullompton.
The children love to explore the various areas where we can act out, perform and learn whilst playing. We also have a little snack which we enjoy together.
Park trips
We take most available opportunities to explore our local community and the amazing parks. There are lots of opportunities to widen our physical skills as well as our social skills.
